Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the rose 0.22% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the were Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:), which rose 8.18% or 616.0 points to trade at 8150.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (T:) added 3.53% or 300.0 points to end at 8790.0 and Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T:) was up 3.32% or 84.0 points to 2615.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kuraray Co., Ltd. (T:), which fell 7.00% or 99.0 points to trade at 1316.0 at the close. Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (T:) declined 2.50% or 61.0 points to end at 2382.0 and NTN Corp. (T:) was down 2.33% or 8.0 points to 336.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2018 to 1461 and 283 ended unchanged.
Shares in Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (T:) rose to all time highs; rising 3.53% or 300.0 to 8790.0.

Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.27% or 0.15 to $56.08 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.18% or 0.11 to hit $61.56 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.26% or 3.95 to trade at $1508.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.02% to 108.64, while EUR/JPY rose 0.08% to 120.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 97.433.
